My 5-year olds are too big, but it is durabal and had no problems going on while he is on it. My 3 years old, she rides all over the house and wait for spring when they can go and my 18 month old is easy to learn, press and hold button. He rides around the farm, and also in the house. It has a lot of power and speed for his age, is the only time he spins tires on the tile floor of the house, but it will usually pick you up and take off again. Quad has excellent traction on grass, cement, carpet, etc. We live on about 3 / 4 of an acre, and he walks across the yard, will also go into areas where the grass is very thick and high without being blocked has not yet learned controller, but after being shown when you get the hang of pressing the button to get it going. It is worth it. Be sure to load the night before giving your child as the first charge is 18 hours.
